Wu-GamBiebers

The internets have been ablaze ever since Kanye West took to twitter to propose a potential collaboration between himself, Raekwon, and Justin Bieber. Kanye proposed it, Bieber gushed, and Raekwon was in the studio two days later. The three settled on Ye and Rae adding some bars to Bieber’s “Runaway Love”, and while this is going to be incredibly awesome and uncomfortable (the original already sounds like something Kanye could have produced during his 808s days), we thought of a few other tracks from these artists we’d rather see the trio put their spin on.
Kanye West ft Jamie Foxx – “Gold Digger”
With his newfound megafame as the teen heartthrob of the week, Justin Bieber definitely knows by now what it’s like to have several shorties coming after his pockets, so this collab just feels right. Jamie Foxx’s Ray Charles impression was incredible, but it’s evident that Justin has a fair amount of soul, probably enough to pull off Ray’s wailing in “I’ve Got A Woman”. Throw on a Raekwon verse about a chick who only gave him rhythm after he flipped his first 10 bricks and copped the new P-Wing ‘Lo sweater, and there’s potential for this to be a downright classic remix. Plus, how much more awesome would that “He leave yo’ ass for a white girl” line be with a sort-of white girl on the song? (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.)
Raekwon ft Method Man and Ghostface Killah – “Ice Cream”
We all know Bieber is an R&B crooner, so what better track is there for him to hop on than the Wu’s first love song? The “ice cream truck” theme is just PG enough for Bieber to still retain his boyish innocence, and those high pitched vocals RZA freaked are right in Bieber’s frighteningly high range. As for Kanye, Ghost kicked a pretty Kanye-esque verse on the original (even spitting a “spotted like Spud McKenzie” line as Ye later did with Slum Village), so Yeezy would be right at home lyrically on this classic Wu cut. And anyone who’s visited kanyewest.com since its conception or monitored his publicized supermodel relationships knows that Mr. West is a big fan of two scoops of ice cream, especially a heaping bowl of French Vanilla.
Kanye West ft Syleena Johnson – “All Falls Down”
This honest cut from Kanye’s debut album helped to establish him as one of the most dynamic and thought provoking MCs of his time. Justin Bieber can definitely hold his own on a guitar, so this could have the potential to be an amazing unplugged remix with Bieber freaking the guitar riffs sampled from Lauryn Hill’s “Mystery of Iniquity”. As for Rae.. okay, this may be a little too conscious for Rae. But we’re sure he’d find a way to spit that mafioso criminology rap over this and make it work, he’s the Chef!
Raekwon ft Ghostface Killah – “Can It Be All So Simple (Remix)”
This would have to be a remix to a remix, yes, but that wouldn’t at all take away from how remarkable it would be to hear this trio’s interpretation of the classic cut from Rae’s debut album. Kanye is more than fluent in waxing poetic on the good ol’ days, and this is undoubtedly one of the many patented RZA soul flips that Kanye’s entire production style was inspired by. Also, that “dedicated to man that built pyramids!” line would be even more potent in the wake of Kanye’s recent discovery of ancient Egypt. But hands down, the most magical part of this remix would be casting Justin Bieber as the “skinny lookin’, big head nigga” selling on Ghostface’s block. However, instead of the confrontation ending in gunfire, it ends in an incredible jam session live on the streets of Shaolin with Bieber tackling those solemnly sampled vocals. Fly, wonderful.
The world has yet to see what the “Runaway Love” remix sounds like, but something that spontaneous and random will definitely be talked about for a long time. As hip-hop blogs all over the web watch Kanye and Rae’s twitter timelines obsessively looking for the latest nugget of info about the track, we have to wonder when rap decided to care about Justin Bieber. Anyone? Any idea? We’ve got nothing either.

Justin won. Hard.
